In this post, we present Total offer for Infrastructure and construction. This industry covers a wide range of applications such as Artificial grass, Cables, Insulation, Plumbing & Heating pipes, Gravity pipes, Foams and Geosynthetics & Technical textiles.
Artificial grass
As a polymer distributor, we consider Total as a pioneer in metallocene catalyst and process technology. With Lumicene® metallocene polyethylene, Total offers a full range of polyethylene and polypropylene resins for both landscaping and non-contact sports yarns and tapes for primary backings.
With an outstanding balance of softness, resilience, and durability required for technically demanding contact sport pitches (football, rugby, golf…), Total Lumicene® is an excellent choice for the most competitive yarn.
Cables
Cable insulation
An example of Total range for cable insulation is Total LDPE CD0230 DPI (excellent properties to be used in direct peroxide injection cable manufacturing), which along with Total MDPE jacketing, gathers a robust insulation capacity with outstanding cleanliness and consistency.
Cable protection
Indoor conduits
Features | Resin requirements | Our solutions |
Good balance impact resistance/stiffness | Impact resistance at -5°C | PPC 3640 |
Flexible (corrugated) or rigid (smooth) | Stiffness | PPC 3645 |
High processability | PPC 3650 |
Insulation
To achieve the best insulation quality, Total has developed Excell-R®, a new grey airpop® (an insulation material designed for more comfort and energy savings) that provides an exceptional thermal resistance value (or R-value) and is 100% recyclable.
Plumbing and heating
Total latest solution for Plumbing & heating pipes is XRT70, a PE-RT (PE with Raised Temperature resistance) Type II HDPE, produced using Total’s Advanced Double Loop technology.
Combining an excellent processability with elevated temperature performance and long-term stability, the typical applications of this product include hot & cold water domestic plumbing, underfloor heating or radiator connections.
XRT70 gathers speed and consistency (bimodal design with outstanding processing properties) and guarantees a durable installation (offers the longest service life in actual operation of raised temperature systems), while presenting the requirements needed for a high disinfectants resistance (XRT 70 pipes have passed ASTM F2769 requirements).
Gravity Pipes
In this category, Chemieuro presents Total solution for gravity pipes applications. Providing an incredible pipe weight reduction (up to 10-fold reduction over other traditional materials), the typical applications of these grades range from indoor waste and soil discharge to underground sewage and drainage (smooth or corrugated/structure wall).
Other remarkable characteristics of Total latest PP generation include excellent flexibility, durability, a broad temperature window and high abrasion resistance.
Gravity pipes sustainability
Total Ecosolutions PPC 1645 (high stiffness pipes at lowest wall thickness allowed) or PPH 1060 (able to absorb up to 50 wt% mineral filler) are two examples of Total’s strategy to reduce the environmental footprint of his activities.
Foams
In this category, we present Total offer for Foam market, including LDPE, PP and PS resins. The main features of this product range remain on low weight, cost efficiency, thermal and acoustic insulation or mechanical and shock absorption properties.
Some outstanding specific products of Total are LDPE CD0230, a new innovative reference for downgauging, or Excell-R®, the already mentioned new grey EPS that provides an excellent R value.
Geosynthetics & technical textiles
Coming up next, Chemieuro presents Total PP nonwovens, an excellent solution that has become essential in the durable construction of buildings and infrastructure projects (mainly as a way to reduce the use of fossil resources).
The most typical applications are filtration layers under roads or breathable under-roof membranes.
An outstanding solution for geotextiles is Total PPH 4069, which has been awarded the Total Ecosolutions label. PPH 4069 is a nonwoven designed to increase both tenacity and residual elongation of staple fibers for an excellent toughness. With an excellent downgauging capacity, PPH 4069 allows a more responsible use of fossil resources and significantly reducing the environmental footprint.
